The Rochester Brainery is a community classroom and event space that offers a multitude of creative, informational, and experimental classes.
I wanted to reflect the many different types of learning experiences the Rochester Brainery offers; also finding a balance between the earthy, minimalist and brutalist elements already existing inside and outside the space.

I designed the right and left concrete slabs to be a metaphor for the harmony between the two halves of the brain (as if you're looking head-on).
The Rochester Brainery offers classes that integrate all of these brain powers.

In addition to only having a narrow space on the street lawn outside the building, the sign also needs to withstand Rochester's harsh, icy winters.
The backside of this sign is identical, so passers-by on the sidewalk or parking lot can see the same events.

I chose iteration 3 to be my final design because of cost and practicality, but iteration 4 would be the easiest in terms of having to change out featured events (a slideshow could be played instead of having to manually create and change out panels). I chose an E-Ink screen for iteration 4 because E-ink displays are 99% more energy efficient than LCD or LED screens.
